Children's Playschool
Life is a developmental process with each stage built upon or related to previous stages. We believe that the early years of a child's life are crucial ones for learning trust, self-esteem, confidence, and developing faith. These are best learned in relationships with other children and sensitive, qualified, loving adults. We also believe these qualities of trust, esteem, faith and confidence are essential to the Christian faith and any chosen religion. While we are appreciative of other religious preferences, we are unashamedly Christian in our belief, orientation and procedures.
The Children's Christian Playschool offers a "Parent's Morning Out" five days a week from 9:00am-1:00pm. We serve children between 3 months and 5 years of age. A child my attend the program one, two, three or five days per week.
We pray and will work to be a program where children may grow both tall and wise and know they are loved by God and people.

PROGRAM FORMS
PROGRAM TIMES
The program begins at 9:00 am. Please try not to come earlier than 8:55, as the teachers are not prepared to supervise and assume responsibility for your child prior to that time. The program ends at 1:00 pm.
SCHEDULE
The first day of school is always the day after Labor Day in September. After that, the playschool follows the Guilford County schedule. The playschool is closed when Guilford County schools are closed. If the schools are delayed 1 hour, we will begin at our usual time of 9:00 am. If the schools are delayed 2 hours, we will start one hour late at 10:00 am.
SNACK/LUNCH
A snack will be served mid-morning. Each child will need to bring a sack lunch.
WHAT EACH CHILD NEEDS TO BRING
Parents need to provide everything that will be needed by their children during the time they are in the program. This would include: bottles, diapers, wipes, bibs, and a change of clothes. Please make sure your child's name is on his/her things. All children have accidents, either not getting to the bathroom in time or spilling food or drink or because of an upset stomach, so please make sure your child is prepared.
Please do not let your child bring any toys, books, money or candy. These things can be broken or lost when a child wants to share them with a whole class. Our policy is to take items and put them up until it is time to go home. Often, this may be forgotten at the end of the day. Your child will be without his/her favorite toy or book until the next hime he/she comes back to school. So please, tell your child that there will be toys in his/her classroom to play with while they are here.
DISCIPLINE
Guiding a child in an acceptable pattern of behavior is the goal of the family and the program staff. We try to help each child learn to discipline him/herself. We have rules that must be followed for safety and health. We have needs for sharing all our equipment with other children. Each teacher has some of her own rules about acceptable behavior.
Discipline may take the form of "sit in the chair until we can talk about it..." or "stand by the fence until you can stop throwing rocks." Rewarding good behavior is our aim, so that the child will find that unacceptable behavior lacks fun and fails to get hime the desired attention of the teacher. We try to use a positive approach so that the children will choose a better way.
Children will not be subjected to punishment of a physical nature such as shaking or spanking.
Children will not be subjected to punishment of a psychological nature such as humiliation by derogatory or sarcastic remarks or threats of physical punishment.
Children will not be treated in a punitive manner or shamed when a bathroom accident occurs.
Children will not be denied food as a punishment nor will they be forced to eat.
It is our goal to work with the family to be supportive of each other in matters of discipline.
